Video of TVRRUG School Outreach
In the last quarter of 2013 David Price helped a group of youngsters at a school in Bracknell build their own 3D printer using a Thames Valley Rep Rap Prusa kit, South Hill Park, a local arts and media centre, made a video documentary of the 13 week project

OpenSCAD - Creating DXF's
In a recent post on the rlab google group (here ) regarding the laser cutter, a query about creating a dxf arose. David Price posted a solution using OpenSCAD and I thought the content was valuable. So I post it here for TVRRUG'rs

Improving the spec of R4
Over on the GG Bo has started a discussion regarding noting possible changes to be rolled into R4. This is a summary of his main points. There are pics and follow on comments on the thread.
I copy them here for future reference - Mike.

Round 3 Notes: Print setting for part printers
Ian posted the following in connection with a question about settings for R3 part printing with a R1 or R2 TVRR.
I am reposting here to help populate the R3 guide.
- Number of perimeters - 2
- Number of solid top and bottom layers - 3 and 3
- Layer thickness - 0.3mm
- First layer thickness - 0.3mm
- Infill Density % - 0.3 (30%) should be fine. Use rectilinear fill - it's the fastest printing; the honeycomb fill doesn't support top layers as well.
Finding more info on making stuff
We don't need to duplicate info that is available elsewhere.... I thought of this as I updated the 'buying solder' page on the Reading Hackspace wiki. Just post a link, of course this does rely on the external site continuing to exist. Maybe there is a way of easily importing a duplicate of such pages?
Ian's 3D modelling experience notes
Editors Note: (MikeTheBee) This is a copy of a post Ian made over on the GoogleGroup. (https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en&fromgroups#!topic/tvreprapug/EOPBcjttilI%5B1-25%5D)
I don't usually post about prints, but this one is a bit different, so thought it might interest the community to show what you can do with 3D printers.
Kinect input demo at BMMF
At the Brighton Mini Maker Faire Moving Brands (of chocolate printing fame) worked on an input demo using Kinect. The resulting shapes were then printed out on M&H's RepRap. Spot Me, M & H on the next booth in this video.
Download 3D Object files for Advent
Moving Brands acquired M&H's 3D printer and this was the project it was put to. I liked the way is was renamed "RepNap"
You can visit the windows of each day in the Advent Calendar and see the models in plastic and chocolate. http://www.movingbrands.com/advent/
